Hi, I'm Shannan.

I'm the founder of Queen & Baby, a mom, and an advocate for Black mothers navigating breastfeeding, motherhood, and everything in between.

I started this work while pregnant with my daughter, when I couldn't find breastfeeding education or community that reflected my experience or acknowledged the racial disparities, health conditions, and workplace realities that shape breastfeeding in the Black community.

What I didn't expect was that my own journey would take me through a divorce while I was still nursing, into single motherhood, and into rebuilding a business and a life at the same time. Those seasons taught me, up close, what happens when a mother has no real safety net — and what's possible when she does.

Today, my children are 9 and 6, and after a long pause, Queen & Baby has grown from a personal mission into community-rooted programming, including a partnership with Richland Library currently providing free lactation support across three Columbia, SC branches. My goal is to work with organizations to build systems that actually support mothers, not just products that patch the gaps.

I still believe every mother deserves to feel like a Queen through all of it. Be supported, informed, and never alone in it. And if it didn't happen for you before, there's tomorrow. I'm looking for my tomorrow too.
